Boughton Heath Liberal Democrats

Working with Ann Farrell for Boughton Heath

Boughton Heath is approximately 2 miles east of the centre of Chester. The ward has been represented on the City Council by Liberal Democrats for over twenty years. The current City Councillors are Ann Farrell and Jim Latham. The ward forms part of Great Boughton Parish Council along with Vicars Cross ward. There are six Liberal Democrat Parish Councillors representing Boughton Heath.

Boughton Heath lies between the Shropshire Union Canal to the north and the Caldy Brook to the south. Part of its boundary runs along the River Dee. The ward has good transport links with both the A41 and A55 running through it. There is a 'Park and Ride' serving the City centre accessible from these roads.

There is a mixture of housing in the ward built in phases throughout the 20th century. Some of the earliest are included in the Dee Banks Conservation Area. Towards the end of the century most of Chester's new housing was built in Boughton Heath.

Caldy Nature Park consists of 30 acres of wetland, woodland and meadows. It provides an informal recreation area for local residents. There is an enthusiastic & active Friends of Caldy Valley group which organises events throughout the year.

There is one primary, one secondary school and one special school in the ward. Boughton Primary School has about 225 children. Bishops High School is a Church of England voluntary aided school. Bishops has a community library and sports facilities it shares with the community (run by the Great Boughton and District Community Association)

Caldy Valley Neighbourhood Church and Centre was built jointly by the Methodist and United Reformed Churches and Great Boughton Parish Council. It has a wide range of activities for all ages

The Sainsbury's store on Caldy Valley Road is the focus for retail activity in the ward but here are more shops just outside Boughton Heath on Christleton Road. These stores together with the two public houses provide the main employment opportunities in the area.
